Dr. Olajide Akeredolu was born in Kaduna in 1957, the seventh of eight children,to the late Anglican Bishop Jeremiah and Mrs.Margaret Akeredolu. He hails from Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State, and he is a Prince from the Owalukare Ruling House. He had his primary education in Kaduna at St. Michael’s Anglican primary school, and at Owo at St Andrew’s primary School, between 1962 and 1967.
His Secondary school education was at ImadeCollege, Owo, from 1968 to 1972 graduating with grade one distinction at the WASC examination.
He had his higher school certificate studies at Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure between 1973 and 1974.
In October of the same year, his sterling academic achievements won him a Federal Government academic scholarship and admission to the Medical School of the University of Ibadan to study Medicine. He graduated with MBBS in 1979

He started his professional career as a House Officer at the State Hospital, Akure between 1979 and 1980.
He had his National Youth Service Corps year at the Methodist Hospital, Amachara, Umuahiabetween 1980 and 1981. He returned to the State Hospital, Akure, as a Medical Officer between 1981and 1982
He later moved to the Ministry of Defence, Lagos, and was based at the Nigerian Navy Hospital, Apapa, and Navy Town.
He started his postgraduate training in Surgery at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital as a Junior Resident Surgeon in 1983, becoming a Senior Resident Surgeon in 1985, and then the Chief Resident Surgeon in 1986.
In 1987, he moved to the UK for advanced Plastic Surgery training at the St. Andrew’s Hospital, Billericay, Essex as an Honorary Clinical Assistant in Plastic Surgery.
He became a Fellow of the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College in Surgery (FMCS) in 1988
Between 1988 and 1989, he was a Registrar in Plastic Surgery at the Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, South West England, and the Regional Clinical Fellow in Plastic Surgery for the South West Regional Health Authority covering the Bristol Royal Infirmary, the South Mead Hospital, and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital in Exeter.
Between 1989 and 1990, he was a Senior Registrar and clinical instructor in Plastic Surgery, at the Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, in Cornwall, England.
He had advanced Microsurgery training at the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in Canneisburn, Glasgow, Scotland in 1989
He came back to Nigeria in 1990 and joined the Lagos State Government Health Service as a Consultant Surgeon at the General Hospital, Lagos, moving later to the General Hospital Gbagada in 1991
Between 1992 and 1994, he was the Senior Consultant in charge of Epe General Hospital
He went into private medical practice in 1994, establishing Inland Specialist Hospital group, and has since been the Chief Consultant Surgeon, and Chief Medical Director.
Rotary Activities:
He is a Charter member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Ogudu G.R.A. He was President in the Rotary year 2008 – 2009, during the District Governorship of Richard Giwa-Osagie, and the RI Presidency of D.K. Lee, with the theme – ‘Make Dreams Real’

Beyond the district level, he was a member of the Nigerian National Polioplus Fundraising Committee 2014.
He was the only African member of the Rotary International Plastic Surgery Mission to Rwanda in 2013 to perform Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery on deformed and disfigured victims of the Rwandan genocide.
He is a member of the Arch Klumph Society, the most exclusive group in the world of Rotary, reserved for individuals who have donated a minimum of two hundred and fifty thousand US dollars to the Rotary Foundation. He has established a fund – “The Olajide AkeredoluEndowed Fund” in the Rotary Foundation for the care of congenital abnormalities. His picture is on display, permanently engraved in glass, at the Arch Klumph Society Gallery on the 17thfloor of the Rotary International Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois.
He is a life member of the International Fellowship of Rotarian Doctors, member of the Rotary Global History Fellowship, and the Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG)
A practising Christian, he is a member of the All Saints’ Anglican Church, Yaba, in Lagos, a member of the Men’s Christian Circle, a Patron of the Boys Brigade, and the Medical Adviser of the Diocese of Akoko in the Anglican Communion.
He is a member of the premier Social club in Nigeria, The Island Club, and he is been honoured with the title – Knight Commander of the Order of the Peacock (KCOP)
He is married to ‘Tokunbo, a Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and a Consultant at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. The marriage is blessed with four children.
Taiwo, the ‘Doctor in the house’, is a graduate of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. He has just finished his housemanship at the University College Hospital, UCH, in Ibadan.
Kehinde, with a Master’s degree in International Finance from Herod University, Dubai, UAE, is a Systems’ Analyst with HalogenSecurities PLC.
Adebola, has a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in Arlington, Texas, and is now a Product Design Engineer at Apple Headquarters in the Silicon Valley, San Jose, California.
Oluwole, the baby of the house, is a final year Electrical Engineering undergraduate at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. At present he is an intern at Tesla Headquarters in San Francisco, California.
