Rotary Club of Ojodu, District 9110 has leveraged on the visit of the District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu on Sunday, August 11, 2019 to reach out members of the community in different areas.
 
The DG’s visit to the club started with the donation of food items by members of the club to Ozanam House for the Destitute in Ojodu, Lagos state. The club Secretary also celebrated his birthday with children in the home with the cutting of cake.
 
 
Presenting the food items, the Club President who spoke on behalf of the club members said, “Words cannot express how we feel serving humanity and we will continue serving humanity.”
 
Mr Nornah Awoh, Former President of St Vincent de Paul Society thanked the club immensely for the donation to the home saying. “The fact that you have the poor in your heart is commendable, notwithstanding that you have been here before. We want to sincerely thank you for remembering them.
 
“You are called benefactors and everywhere we are, we pray for our benefactors so we will continue praying for you and also encouraging you not to forget the home, the reason being that anywhere we have people living in poverty, the lives of those living above poverty is also at risk”, he added.
 
Speaking further, he said, the District Governor mentioned that you are interested in helping people acquire skills; you can see these items here, this is how the sisters have also help them to acquire skills so as they are leaving the home, they are not leaving the same way they came. They are leaving much better so we can both partner in that respect.”
 
Also present at the donation and birthday celebration in the home was Sister Bridget Abbah, the Administrator of the Home.
 
After the donation exercise, the club led the DG to Omole Phase One Gate to commission a traffic control booth which was donated by the club to the Federal Road Safety Corps. The DG commissioned the booth alongside the club president and the Federal Road Saftey Corps, Lagos State Coordinator, Olusola Olojede, as well as the Deputy Corps Commander. Sector Head of Operations, Lagos State Command, Matthew Cyril Zango.
 
 
The District Governor also joined the club in a tree planting exercise in Community High School, Ojodu after which he was led on an inspection tour within Community Health Centre in view of the club’s proposed project for the centre.
 
Two new members were however inducted into the club by the District Governor.
