District Governor Kola Sodipo has urged members of Rotary Club of Agege to put in extra effort towards ensuring the total eradication of polio in Nigeria this Rotary year.
 
DG Sodipo stated this during his official visit to the club on Monday, July 9, 2018. The DG who started his official club visits for the 2018-19 Rotary year with Rotary Club of Agege told all members of the club to double their efforts in the fight against polio so that Nigeria can finally boast of a polio-free nation.
 
He however disclosed that there will be a subsidized discount of 15% to 20% to for the first set of Rotarians that registers for the Zonal Institute in order to encourage more members to attend the Institute. 
The Governor’s visit to Rotary Club of Agege started with a media tour to Traffic F.M in Lagos where DG Sodipo and the District Secretary, Rotarian Kola Ojelabi, who is also a member of the club had a brief meeting with some of the radio station’s management team and staff after which they participated in an on-air programme. 
 
Also present was the club president, Rotarian Kayode Opeifa who led the other members of the club, the DG and also members of the DG’s entourage to the Radio station.
 
The DG, at the club assembly, declared his readiness to partner with the club on its outdoor campaigns to boost the public image of the club, while urging the club to make good use of its members in the media sector in enhancing the club’s public image.

DG Sodipo reiterated his statement at the President Elects Training Seminar (PETS) held earlier this year where he asked clubs to partner with each other in order to enable them raise more funds that will be used to execute bigger projects.
 
The Governor further encouraged the club members to go on and achieve its aim of making sure the club is mentioned in The Rotarian magazine every month and also bring in more new members, especially those between the ages of 40 and below.
 
The club members, while responding to the DG, said each member of the club has been encouraged to introduce at least one new person at club meetings from which some will eventually become members of the club.
 
In his speech, a guest speaker, Mr. Dayo Isreal, was invited to give a talk at the club fellowship's said that “in the world today where there is no hope. In a world where there is darkness. In a world where everyone is looking for light in the midst of darkness, Rotary International President, Barry Rassin is saying ‘Be the Inspiration’. By saying that, he means you have a role to play. 
“Let your light so shine, inspire through your words, your deeds, inspire your next generation. Mr. President, as you begin your tenure, please bear it in mind that every child has the potential to be great depending on who they come across so catch them young. For the young people who are here, you must chose to serve, you must be ready to give even if there is nothing in return”, he further said.
 
The club gave out a sewing machine to an indigent family and DG Sodipo personally gave a scholarship to the little girl of the family. Two people were also inducted into the club by the DG.
