Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR has just flagged-off the free surgical and medical mission being organized by Rotary International, District 9110 in collaboration with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA).
 
 
The flag-off ceremony was held in Ace Medicare Clinic in Ota, Ogun state on Monday, April 24, 2023 also with the presence of The Olota of Ota, The Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege; ANPA President, Dr Chinyere Anyaogu who led her team of Physicians to Nigeria all the way from the United State; Mission Host, District 9110 Omotunde Lawson, FCAI; District 9110 Governor Nominee, Dr. Wole Kukoyi; members of the Mission Host Planning Committee led by the Chairman, Past District Governor, Dr. Deinde Shoga, Past District 9110 Governors, other Rotarians and guests.
 
 
Dr. Wole Kukoyi is the CEO of Ace Medicare who has graciously released the facility to be used for free throughout the mission.
The mission which will hold between Monday, April 24 and Friday, April 28 in Ace Medicare Clinics in Ota, Ogun state started with screening of beneficiaries in different hospitals as well as at the Rotary Centre in Ikeja in the first week of April.
 
 
The week-long mission, one of the largest mission to be held in the state aims costs about N50million and it aims to cater for 4000 to 5000 beneficiaries. Over 50 medical doctors and Pharmacists which include Rotarians and non-Rotarians from within and outside Nigeria will be participating in the mission which targets different categories of surgeries ranging from fibroid to thyroid, hernia, among others.
 
The mission will also cover non-surgical treatments.
Chief Obasanjo while addressing the audience applauded the Rotary members for the continuous humanitarian service rendered to the less privileged in the society. “If most people in the world will live by the four way test, what a different world we will have”, he said.
 
The former Nigeria president also commended the ANPA team for collaborating with the Rotary club to carry out such a massive mission.
Speaking to members of the press at the sideline of the event, DG Lawson revealed that she had always wanted to help sponsor indigent women with fibroid, as such she included it as part of her key projects when she assumed office as District Governor, but as God will have it, it transitioned into something even more bigger and more impactful.
