Friday, January 10, 2020 is one day many Rotarians of Rotary International, District 9110, Nigeria will not forget in a hurry, as they spent the evening winning, dinning, and celebrating the new year with the District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu and his amiable spouse, Tokunbo.
 
 
The Rotarians stepped into the Rotary Centre in Ikeja, Lagos with their family and friends to celebrate the just concluded first half of the 2019-20 Rotary year with the District Governor, as they usher in the second half of the Rotary year with expectations to achieve their set individual, club, and district goals.
 
The first six months (first half) of the Rotary year which kick-started on July 1, 2019 has been full of service projects and activities covering the six areas of focus in Rotary by various clubs in the District.
 
The historic cervical cancer prevention project by the District Governor which is targeted at vaccinating 10, 000 girls against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which causes cervical cancer, at the cost of N22, 000 per girl, was also launched with the pilot phase at Estate Junior Grammar School in Ilupeju area of the state where 102 girls were vaccinated.
 
The Rotary Foundation was not left out as the District Governor was able to raise funds into the foundation through his commendable “one Million Dollar Challenge” whereby with just N2, 000, donors can donate into the Foundation and also get one raffle draw ticket to enable them stand a chance to win prizes.
 
In the past few months, many donors have carted away mouth-watering prizes which includes a business class worldwide Turkish Airline ticket and one lucky person will win the STAR prize which is a brand new Nissan Almera car.
 
 
The evening was crowned with the “One Million Dollar Challenge” raffle draws during which a new set of winners joined the existing winners. Rotarians were also awarded for outstanding performances. There was enough to eat and drink and good music was also on standby to entertain the guests.
