"These are the real people who are in need. When you wake up in the morning and have your body parts functioning properly, you don’t know what God is doing for you. You are here taking care of these children quietly without broadcasting it, only God will reward you. This is just to show that there are so many scopes of charity", DG A keredolu

The donation was witnessed by members of the club as well as the District Governor who officially presented the donated items to the Home Administrator, Mrs Udoh Temitayo on Wednesday, November 21, 2019.

The District Governor addressed everyone present at the donation saying, “One cannot but appreciate the effort you have been making for these people whose illnesses are no fault of theirs. We thank you for doing this. It can be quite a very challenging thing to take care of the physically challenged. These are the real people who are in need.

“When you wake up in the morning and have your body parts functioning properly, you don’t know what God is doing for you. You are here taking care of these children quietly without broadcasting it, only God will reward you. This is just to show that there are so many scopes of charity.

“The club members have levied themselves to make these donations to you and they are doing this in expectation of nothing, knowing fully well that the children can’t even say thank you so I am saying thank you to the club on behalf of the children”, he concluded.

Mrs Udoh, while showing appreciation to the club, noted that the occupants of the home are old but when it comes to IQ, they are just like toddler. “We are so blessed, we have been blessed by the Rotary clubs that have been coming here”, she said.

“We are beneficiaries of your charity work and we have benefited from you. We know you are not doing this for us, you are doing this for God. It’s a private home solely dependent on people like you that come to bless you with the blessings of God”, she added.

The club however donated two sets of desktops to Anchorage Field Secondary School and Bet Sefer Nursery and Primary School, both in Festac, Lagos.

The club also granted scholarship to two students of Foresight International School, Festac. According to a Past President of the club, Alex Geonlebedum, the scholarship scheme which is a partnership project with the school, was initiated by him during his year as the club president in the 2015-2016 Rotary year.

Geonlebedum explained that during his installation ceremony, the school had wanted to donate financially to support his year so he requested that the donation be converted to scholarships for two students of the school who were in Junior Secondary School 1 (J. S. S. 1) then.

The scholarship kick-started that same year on an annual basis and now the two beneficiaries are in Senior Secondary School (S.  S. S. 2). One of the beneficiaries, Mubarak Adeshola Odumala is the son of a late Rotarian of the clubFemi Odumala who died in 2008 while the other beneficiary, Ikechukwu Clinton Nnanyelu also lost his father in 2008.

One new Rotarian was inducted into the club by the DG and the club supported the District Governor’s cervical cancer vaccination project with the sum of N440, 000 in addition to individual contributions by some members of the club.
