Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta and his spouse, Rashi were received by District 9110 Governor Remi Bello, FCA, district 9110 leaders, leaders from other Rotary districts in Nigeria, as well as District Rotaract Representative Ayodeji Sobowale upon arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos from which the team proceeded to the Indo Eye Care Foundation Hospital in Ajao Estate, Lagos where the hospital was officially commissioned by RI President Mehta.
Thereafter, the team proceeded to the Rotary Centre in Ikeja were the RI President and his spouse were ceremoniously received by other district leaders including the Doyen of Past District Governor, PDG Julius Adeluyi-Adelusi, Rotaractors and Interactors.
RI President Mehta and his spouse were also taken on a tour around the Rotary Centre during which he also witnessed the administration of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccines on young girls.
Trees were also planted in significance with Rotary’s focus on “Supporting the Environment”. The organization has continued to encourage members to contribute towards the preservation of our planet earth through tree planting.
The RI President also visited the Polio House in the Rotary Centre where he was warmly received by The Chairman, Nigeria National Polioplus Committee, PDG Dr. Tunji Funsho
RI President Mehta and his spouse, Rashi were finally hosted to a reception dinner where he met with Rotarians in the district, new Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors, and an AKS in view, Rotarian Bamidele Onalaja, the President, Rotary Club of Maryland.
Shekhar and Rashi were colourfully adorned in Yoruba cultural itire as with the host District Governor, Remi Bello, FCA and his wife, Nike. They were also graced with cultural performances and a live band.
