The 42nd annual District Conference of Rotary District 9110 began on Thursday, 11 May 2023 with graduation ceremony and Empowerment of 109 youths and adults in Abeokuta, Ogun State who have been given 3 months Vocational Training in different skills.
The beneficiaries were trained in the following areas:
. Make-up Artistry
• Confectioneries
• Fishery
• Event Management/Decoration
• Graphic Designing
• CCTV/Solar Power Installation
• Adire Artistry
This is yet another unprecedented occurrence and initiative of the District Governor Omotunde Lawson, FCAI who presented the project as one of her goals for the Rotary year.
The graduation ceremony was declared open by the Iyalode of Egbaland, Iyalode Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson while in attendance were Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Professor Joseph Odemuyiwa; Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rtn Hon. Motunrayo Adeleye, Rotary leaders, and Rotarians.
All beneficiaries were presented with Rotary certificates of graduation while 66 best graduates were empowered with start-up tools worth N100,000 each in their different areas of vocations. 22 were empowered on Solar power/CCTV installation, 5 in Fish farming, 10 in make-over artistry, 9 in adire artistry, 20 in graphic designing and 10 in catering and confectioneries.
To crown it all, The Special Adviser, Technical and Vocational Education also assured the Rotarians and beneficiaries of government certification for the beneficiaries having been impressed by their performance.
