The 2023 World’s Greatest Meal fundraising dinner held at Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday, April 30 during which Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones’ painting was used to raise funds for polioPlus.

The event witnessed the presence of former Commissioner for Transport, Lagos State, Hon Kayode Opeifa who was decorated by the District Governor, Omotunde Lawson, FCAI with a multiple PHF pin. The Special Guest of Honour, Engr.Akintola Oladejo, MD/CEO Prestigious Homes Ltd who graced the event with his wife, generously donated to the cause of polio eradication.
 
 
 
In attendance were the First Man of the District, Rotarian Francis Lawson, the Chairman of the District World’s Greatest Meal Committee, Past President Bamidele Onalaja who is a member of the Arch Klumph Society (those who have contributed $250, 000 to The Rotary Foundation) and his wife, Assistant Governor Tolulope Onalaja, district leaders which include Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator, PDG , Deinde Shoga, Immediate Past District Governor Remi Bello, District Governor Nominee Designate Henry Akinyele were also present with District Governor Nominee Designate Lanre Adedoyin who was the Guest Speaker.

The Highpoint of the event was the emergence of of Rotarian Sola Ayanwale, a member of Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa emerged winner of the Rotary International President’s painting after a highly competitive American auction. Appreciation plaques were also presented to the donors and sponsors of the event by the District Governor.
 
 
 
 
World’s Greatest Meal’ is a fundraising event organized annually by Rotary clubs and districts worldwide to raise funds for PolioPlus which are matched by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support the eradication of polio from the world. This Imaginative Rotary year, the District World’s Greatest Meal Planning Committee chaired by Rotarian Bamidele Onalaja brought a new dimension to the event as we were all encouraged to skip a meal at the cost of at least N10, 000.
 
 
 
 
Other categories of the ‘Skip a Meal’ initiative include N20, 000 for Sapphire Donors, N50, 000 for Bronze Donors, N100, 000 for Silver Donors, N200, 000 for Gold Donors, N250, 000 for Diamond Donors, and N500, 000 for Platinum Donors.
