Rotary International District 9110 has sealed a ten-year partnership deal with First Bank Nigeria Plc, Nigeria’s leading and foremost commercial bank.
Past Assistant Governor Bukola Bakare, a member of Rotary Club of Ikeja, also District Governor Nominee Designate for pioneer Rotary International District 9111who facilitated the partnership with First Bank disclosed that the partnership will last for a period of ten years during which new beneficiaries will emerge every year.
According to Rotarian Bakare “we have ten years agreement with FBN Plc concerning empowerment of entrepreneurs after their skills acquisition for beneficiaries within both Lagos and Ogun States communities”.
District Governor Nominee Designate Bakare disclosed this yesterday during presentation of equipment and empowerment of 102 beneficiaries; donations executed by Rotary International District 9110 in partnership with FBN held at Rotary Centre, Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja-GRA, Lagos.
She stated that “next year, there will be another set of participants that will be beneficiaries of different equipment and those that have been given equipment today would not be left alone but be groomed, monitored and mentored in business until they can stand on their own and also make good use of Rotarians donations to contribute their own quota to the betterment of our society.
She further noted that, "the empowerment within our communities is part of the seven areas of focus of Rotary International as we are very passionate about empowering and transforming people".
Equipment distributed to beneficiaries includes sewing machines for fashion designers; gas cylinder and burners for caterers; make up kids for make overs; deep freezers and oven for hospitality business owners, among others. The Rotary International and First Bank Plc 102 Beneficiaries Empowerment project was supported by Ishk Tolaram Foundation and Rotary Club of Singapore.
