First Ever Women in Rotary Conference and Business Exhibition Held on Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19, 2023.
The day 2 of the two days Conference also started with beautiful displays of products by vendors as well as business owners who showcased their services. The event which was hosted by the First Female District Governor Omotunde Lawson, FCAI had Rotarians and non-Rotarians in attendance, including the District Governor’s spouse, Rotarian Francis Lawson. Gracing the event as the Keynote Speaker was the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson who shared her wealth of knowledge with the participants on the theme: “The Transformational Woman”.
The event also had other guest speakers as well as seasoned Rotarian and non-Rotarian professionals and business men and women who further enlightened participants on the theme in a panel discussion.
More spices were added to the event when the District Strategic Committee Chairman, Sanjeev Tandon presented a cheque of N4, 000, 000 to the District Governor on behalf of Tolaram Group to provide startup tools for 40 of the beneficiaries of the just concluded district’s vocational skill acquisition programme during which over 300 youths across Lagos and Ogun states were trained in various vocational skills, after which the District Governor decided to further empower the beneficiaries by providing them with startup tools.
Right there and then, some of the beneficiaries of the skill acquisition programme present were presented with their tools which include sewing machines, shoe making machines, as well as gigantic makeup box. The conference ended with a colorful dinner which was grace with the presence of Past District Governors and their spouses, district leaders, Rotarians and guests to celebrate the success of the event.
