The year has indeed started on a good note for children in Ijamido Children Home in Ota, Ogun state as members of Rotary club of Ota, District 9110, visited the home on Saturday, January 18, 2020 and donated food items to the home.
This is what we do in Rotary. Those people we render humanitarian support to, we don’t know them, just as you have decided to be mothers and fathers to these children", DG Akeredolu told the management staff of the home
 
 
The Rotarians were received with a song rendition by the children in appreciation to the club. The items were received by the Director, Education and Welfare, Mrs Eromosele Adetutu who thanked the club for making it a point of duty to visit the home with donations every year.
 
The District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu was also present to witness the exercise. He addressed the children saying, “Like you all know, we come here every year with donations and we are here again today. I have been told that some of you are undergraduates and even graduates; that is the success story of this home.
 
“We, as Rotarians will continue to do anything we can to support you with our time talent, and resources”, he said, while thanking Rotary Club of Ota for their kind gesture.
 
 
Speaking to the management staff of the home, the DG said, “This is what we do in Rotary. Those people we render humanitarian support to, we don’t know them, just as you have decided to be mothers and fathers to these children."
 
The club led by the United President, Kasim Salman leveraged on the official visit of the District Governor to carry out the donation exercise, as well as execute other projects which includes a courtesy call on the Olota of Ota who is also a Rotarian, Oba Adeyemi Obalalenge.
 
 
The king, in his remark, revealed that he was inducted into the Rotary family as an Interactor at Ansar Ud Deen College in Isolo, after which he joined the Rotaract Club of Isolo before joining the Rotary Club.
 
“As Rotarians, if we live by the Four-way Test, we will make a difference in our communities; that is what am doing here on this throne. My leadership training was in Rotary and I also attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). I want to give back to my community was Rotary has imbibed in me”, the king said.
 
The king was presented with the theme bannerette by DG Akeredolu and a gift from the club. A new Rotarian was inducted into the club by the DG right in the palace and a tree planting exercise was also carried out by the club within the premises of the palace.
 
Next was a courtesy visit to the home of Past District Governor Olufemi Sobanjo who alongside his spouse, treated the guests to a sumptuous lunch.
 
 
The group then proceeded to the palace of the Onijoko of Ijoko Ota Land, Oba Abdul-fatai Matanmi who was also presented with the theme bannerette by the District Governor. A tree planting exercise was also carried out by the club within the premises of the palace.
 
 
Finally, the club members led DG Akeredolu and members of his entourage to Ogba Ayo in Ijoko Ota where a Four-way Test billboard was unveiled by the club.
