There is nothing more joyful than putting smiles on the faces of children who may not have had the opportunity to experience parental care and love, and also persons who have never functioned with vital body organs and may not be able to regain essential parts of their body system.

Rotary Clubs across Lagos and Ogun States under the umbrella of Rotary International, District 9110, Nigeria, led by the District Governor, Rotarian Dr. Wale Ogunbadejo, are indeed “making a difference” for the benefit of the people in their community.

During a visit of DG Ogunbadejo and some District leaders including the District Secretary, Rotarian Segun Adewakun, to Rotary Club of Olambe in Ogun state on Saturday 23, September, 2017, the club under the leadership of Rotarian President Kamar Adeyeye, donated some food items and toiletries to Adetoro Omooba Cares Foundation, (A.K.A ADOCA HOME), centre for orphans and special need persons.

The Founder of the home, Rotarian Adebayo Adetoro Omooba, who is also an active member of the club, expressed her excitement at the hand of charity which the club has reached out to the home. Speaking on what drove her to establish such a foundation, Omooba said, “I lost my mum at a very early stage of my life.

“I experienced a lot of hardship growing up as a motherless child, and because of that, I prayed to God to delay the rapture so I can grow up and build a home where I will care for motherless children”, she added, while explaining that this used to be her dream while growing up.

But during her days as a teacher, she came across a group of children with special needs and they stole her heart. She then decided to also reach out to these set of people, and that gave birth to the home in 2011.

The District Governor, while commending Omooba’s effort said, “We can never compensate you enough for the selfless service you are rendering to these children knowing that they may never be able to reward you materially or financially. It is only God that can reward you for all your effort.”

Some of the food items and toiletries donated to the home include bags of rice, cartons of noodles, detergents, toilet papers, toilet soaps, hand sanitizers, among other items.

After the donation at the home, DG Ogunbadejo headed to the club’s board meeting where he noted the absence of female members at the club except one. While underscoring the Rotary emphasis on gender parity, the DG urged members of Rotary Club of Olambe to bring in more female members.

He further commended Omooba who is the only female member of the club, and other members of the club for volunteering their time, talent and treasure toward Rotary services while also encouraging other members as to follow suit to enable the club execute its projects and also donate to the Polio Foundation.

The DG also shared fellows with the club members where he inducted three new members into the Rotary Club of Olambe.
