The president of Rotary Club of Ogudu GRA, Vivian Ohaeri and other members of the club welcomed home the District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu who is also a member of the club on Monday, October 28, 2019 with the commissioning of a new building in Ogudu Police station.
 
 
The newly built administrative block in Area H Police Command, Ogudu Police Division, Lagos state was built from scratch to finishing by the club. The club leveraged on the visit of DG Akeredolu to the club to commission and officially hand over the building to the police station upon completion.
 
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Jimoh Jabaje who received the key to the new building donated by the club, thanked the club for its huge contribution towards enhancing security in the state.
 
 
“The society belongs to all of us so if we have people who can equally support us with their resources like the Rotary club, then the society will be better for us”, CSP Jabaje stated in his remark.
 
“I remember the girls we were taking care of then, have since become big women and have left the orphanage and we had to adopt two new ones. It is no fault of theirs that they don’t have anybody to help them”, the DG said.
 
Next was a visit to Little Sainits Orphanage in Ogudu (hostel for girls) where the club handed a cheque to the administrator of the home, Mrs. Dominica Ita Eno for the education and overall well-being of two occupants of the home who have been adopted by the club.
 
Speaking at the home, the DG noted that the club has been visiting the home with donations annually for about 11 years now. “I remember the girls we were taking care of then, have since become big women and have left the orphanage and we had to adopt two new ones. It is no fault of theirs that they don’t have anybody to help them”, the DG said.
 
 
He then commended the management and staff of the home which he noted started little in Palm grove, Lagos state and has grown over the years with branches across the state and even outside the state.
 
Next was a courtesy call on the president of Ogudu GRA Residents Association, Dr. Atilola Olusola, after which the club members joined a member of the club, Onikepo Oshodi at the 10 years remembrance party of her late mother.
 
 
During the club fellowship, a micro credit grant of N1million was issued by the club to 20 beneficiaries at N50, 000 each. The club also redeemed its pledge of N1miilion to support the Cervical Cancer Vaccination project- an initiative of the DG aimed at vaccinating 10, 000 girls against cervical cancer.
 
 
A member of the club also donated N200, 000 to support the project, making a total of N1.2million.
6 new members were also inducted into the club by the DG.
