For cane weavers in Cane Village Maryland, it has become a norm to see members of the Rotary Club of Maryland walking into the community to commissioned projects for the benefit of the community year after year.

The service organization had previously commissioned series of projects which includes a water bore hole in the community and this Rotary year, the club, under the leadership of the Change Maker President, Bamidele Onalaja constructed a block of toilets and washrooms as requested by the cane weavers in the village.
 
The club president who also reaches out to indigent people through his foundation carried out the project in collaboration with is foundation- Bamidele Onalaja Foundation.
 
Commissioning the project on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 was the District Governor, Remi Bello, FCA with the club president, alongside his wife, Tolulope and other Rotarians.

Mr. Edward Apkofure, The President of Lagos State Cane Weavers Association thanked the club for the continuous show of concern for the well being of the cane village and for always providing their needs.

The club also distributed free delivery kits to 60 pregnant women in Mende Primary Health Centre, Maryland, Lagos on the same day. Present was the Apex Nurse for Kosofe Local Government Area, Nurse Bakare and the Chief Nursing Officer for Mende PHC, ACNC Oshe.
