Rotary Club of Lekki Phase One has empowered 40 traders in its community through a micro credit of N2, 000, 000 at N50, 000 each.
 
 
DG Akeredolu, while giving his speech, commended members of the club for taking it upon themselves to support the traders who may have lost hope of getting funds to keep their businesses alive or to resuscitate their dying businesses.
 
This micro credit disbursement by the club is part of the club’s “Lekki Traders Empowerment Scheme” which is aimed at supporting the traders raise capital and also sustain their businesses.
 
This life-changing scheme which is being executed in collaboration with Rigo Micro Finance Bank Limited, is an initiative of the club and one of the many ways the club is reaching out to indigent members of its community.
 
The club leveraged on the official visit of the District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu to the club on Thursday, January 16, 2020 to execute the project.
 
 
The District Governor officially presented the cheques to the beneficiaries, alongside Past Assistant Governor Kayode Aderinokun who is standing in as the united president of the club, as well as Imade Ikponumosa, the Head, Social Impact, Rigo Micro Finance Bank Limited who appreciated the club for partnering with the bank in touching the lives of people.

The DG also commended the club’s impact through its countless laudable projects in its committee during its 13 years of existence. He stated his satisfaction with the portion of the club’s workbook which showcases the projects, describing it as an “impressive resume”.
 
He however urged the club members to keep up the good works and continue to work together while they serve their community and move the club forward.
