The President of Rotary Club of Isolo Golden, Rotarian Akinjide Akinlabi, charter president and some other members of the club led the District Governor, Rotarian Dr. Wale Ogunbadejo to the school to witness the work in progress, during his official visit to the club on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Rotarian Akinlabi explained that the club noticed the dilapidated state of the former structure during the club’s courtesy visit to the school principal, “We noticed the former structure and decided to take it up as a star project to modernize the structure”, he said, adding that the club will subsequently take up other projects in the school.

The Governor who was accompanied on the visit by members of his entourage, including the District Secretary, Rotarian Segun Adewakun and some other district leaders commended the club which is in its second year of existence, for taking up the renovation project.
“It’s a great job. I’m very happy to be here to commission it on behalf of Rotary Club of Isolo Golden but I hope that when next I will be here, it will be to commission the newly-completed building” the District Governor said. DG Ogunbadejo also joined the club in its tree planting exercise within the school premises.

During the board meeting, the Governor explained that the main purpose of his visit to clubs is to deliberate with members of the clubs on how to make the clubs more effective. He however advised the club to encourage its members who have relocated to other parts of the country to transfer their membership to the Rotary clubs near them so as not to lose them totally.

DG Ogunbadejo further advised the club members to adopt virtual meeting system where they leverage technologies like Skype to engage members who are not physically present at club meetings.

“Let’s imbibe technology. We are in a technology-driven world. If you don’t have computer knowledge these days, you are seen as an illiterate so don’t let us be seen as illiterates. You can also have virtual meetings. It mustn’t be physical meetings all the time”, he advised the club members.

“Rotary is a knowledge-based organisation. If you don’t have the knowledge, then you are not a Rotarian”, he further stating, while encouraging the club members to always use the Rotary website to equip themselves with knowledge.
