Rotary Club of Ikorodu Golden has contributed its quota towards mother and child care in the community by donating drugs to pregnant women and babies in Igbogbo, Ipakodo and Ita Elewa Primary Health Centres in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The club president, Tawa Ayeni revealed that the drugs which includes pregnant care, vitamin A supplements for infants (6 months- 1 year) and children ((1 year- 49 months), and also deworming tablets were donated to the club by Vitamin Angels in the United States of America and will in turn be distributed to babies and pregnant women who go for antenatal in those health centres they have been donated to for free.

She also revealed the total number of drugs donated are 500 bottles of pregnant care, about 100 bottles of deworming tablets and 500 bottles of vitamin plus.
Members of the club started the donation exercise from Igbogbo primary health centre and thereafter, proceeded to Ipakodo health centre where the drugs were immediately distributed to the pregnant women who were on their antenatal visit to the hospital.

The Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) at Ipakodo Primary Health Centre, Mrs Giwa T. M. expressed her gratitude to the club saying, “Rotary club, you have really tried. We appreciate you for giving our pregnant women pregnant care, the vitamin A for our children and the deworming tablets free of charge. There are many pregnant women out there that are just managing, they can’t afford these drugs but you have made it easier for them by giving them these drugs.”
The Assistant Director of Nursing Services, Adeniyi Helen at Ita Elewa Primary Health Centre also appreciated the club saying, “I am highly impressed with what the club has done here today because one of problems we usually notice with our patients is getting them to buy their routine drugs. They find them difficult to buy after registration so your effort here today is a blessing to us and to the pregnant women especially.”
