Rotary Club of Ikeja, District 9110 has given Ikeja Junior High School a complete new look as the club reconstructed and renovated two blocks of three classrooms each respectively with the sick bay.
 
We are grateful to Rotary Club of Ikeja for putting these structures together because it’s not quite easy raising funds for these projects which you do for people you don’t even know”, DG Akeredolu
 
 
The club also donated classroom chairs and tables to the school which were officially presented to the school by the District Governor on Monday, September 9, 2019
 
The club president, Olumuyiwa Fagbola while addressing the beneficiaries stated that the projects were executed in line with one of Rotary’s six areas of focus- Basic Education and Literacy, and was purposely kept to be commissioned in September.
 
DG Akeredolu, in his speech, reiterated the president’s speech saying, “Every month in Rotary is dedicated to an area of focus and this month like the president noted, is dedicated to basic education and literacy. We are grateful to Rotary Club of Ikeja for putting these structures together because it’s not quite easy raising funds for these projects which you do for people you don’t even know.”
 
 
Mrs. Adelaja, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, while thanking the club said, “Today is indeed a great day. What a good day to start the session with the children. This project is indeed in the right direction. I believe this project will motivate the children to study harder as they now have a more conducive environment to study.
 
“Am happy, not just because this project is coming on the first day of resumption, but also because of the quality of the project; it meets our standard. I thank you all for the good works you are doing. So many projects have been delivered by the club to Lagos state government, we have the records and we will continue to count”, she said.
 
Speaking further, she said, “I want you to look out. In a short while, you will see changes in our schools, to encourage donors and also to show you that Lagos state government is not sleeping.
 
Addressing the pupils, she said, “To my dear students. This is a challenge for you to work harder. Please face your studies and make sure that those supporting you will not regret but will be proud of the positive effect this project have had on you and will be encouraged to do more.”
