Rotary Club of Gbagada has donated medical items including heart monitor and mosquito nets to Ikorodu General Hospital, Lagos.

The medical intervention hoped to help the hospital aligns with working on two core areas of focus of Rotary International, which are Disease prevention and Treatment and also Maternal and Child Health, President of Rotary Club of Gbagada, Rotarian Adefowoke Williamson, said.

While making the donation, Rotarian Williamson said the gifts were part of her contributions to the health care of her people.

She said that for Rotary Club of Gbagada, which has been named the best in the Rotary’s District for years, it was paramount that health was made the cornerstone of the clubs agenda. She urged the hospital's management to maintain the medical items donated to the hospital.

District Governor, Rotary International District 9110, Rotarian Dr Adewale Ogunbadejo, who witnessed the donations during his official visit to Rotary Club of Gbagada has also promised to make healthcare a very vital part of his administration.

According to the District Governor “I have followed the activities of the hospital for some years, he said while noting that the healthcare institution has excelled in quality service delivery.

District Governor Adewale Ogunbadejo while explaining how the equipment functions also said it will go a long way in reducing deaths. “The monitor is a vital equipment in the hospital. It does so many things.’’

Representative of the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr Ismail Obani who thanked Rotary Club of Gbagada profusely for their contribution said that because health care is capital-intensive, government alone can’t shoulder its responsibility.

“Hence we need the help of all. We cherish the patient monitor so much. It is important for patients’ management”, Dr Obani said.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabir Shotobi, who was represented by the Baale of Ojogbe, Chief Kayode Olomo also praised Rotary for the donation.
