Rotary Club of Abule-Egba Metropolitan in District 9110, has donated some items to Ojokoro Primary Health Care Centre, New Oko-Oba Primary School, Community Primary School, and some widows in Abule-Egba community.
 
The club, under the leadership of the club president, Rotarian Samuel Adenekan, leveraged the official visit of the District Governor, Rotarian Dr. Wale Ogunbadejo to the club on Sunday, November 19, 2017, to carry out the donations.
 
The club donated some medical items, benches, ceiling fan and a generator set to Ojokoro Primary Health Care Centre. The medical items donated include stethoscopes, adult weighing scales and cuscus.
 
The club President, while presenting the items to the District Governor, explained that the club decided to provide the items to the centre, following the needs assessment that was carried out by the club in the centre to ascertain what the centre really needs.
 
Rotarian Adenekan further explained that one of the club members visited the hospital and met one of the pregnant women on maternity check up sweating profusely due to power outage so three of the club members decided to donate the brand new generator set to the centre.
 
“This donation touches two of our areas of focus. I thank you the club, especially those who came here, noticed the heat, and decided to provide the generator set”, the Governor said in his remark, while urging the management of the centre to ensure that the items are properly maintained.
 
Mrs Ajibola Oludoyin, the Principal Nursing Officer for the centre, who received the items, thanked the club members for their generosity, while stating that “the items came at a time when the hospital needed it more.”
The club also donated also donated exercise books, drum sets, office tables and chairs to both New Oko-Oba Primary School and Community Primary School in Abule- Egba.
 
Also present at the donation ceremony was Mr. Ige Samson, H.O.S. Special Duties, representing the Educational Secretary. In his remark, he said, “I thank the Rotary club of Abule-Egba Metropolitan for their effort. Like the DG has said, the government cannot do it all. What you have supplied so far, I am saying it emphatically that there will be good usage and maintenance”.
 
The head teachers, some of the pupils, and also some staff of the two schools were also present at the donation ceremony. The club also led the DG on a courtesy visit to the Oba of Ojokoro land, H. R. M. Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo (JP), Akeja Oniyanru Akanbiogun (1st).
 
The Governor presented some food items to some of the widows in the community, on behalf club. The items presented to the widows include rice and groundnut oil. The DG shared fellowship with members of the club.
