THE District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110 comprising Lagos and Ogun States, Otunba Bola Onabadejo recently paid a maiden visit to the Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate.

He was impressed with the performance of the club in the area of executing the projects earmarked for the year. The Club in its usual characteristic has given out three smart canes to three beneficiaries – Jolomy George, Abdulrahaman Taiwo and Olufemi Bayode – out of the 100 smart canes the club would be giving out. Each of the smart canes cost N250 dollars.

The canes are meant for people with eye challenges whose case could not be remedied through surgical operation. The visiting Governor Otunbadejo was conducted round the premises, where he saw artificial limbs that are given to beneficiaries every week.

Speaking at the event, Onabadejo commended the club, describing what they are doing as ‘very big and meaningful to humanity.’ While describing the projects as beneficial not only on the immediate community but also those outside the country, he declared: “The expectation I had in mind was not cut short as the it has a good standing.

I have scored the club excellent. “The club, no doubt, has been doing good. Last year, it had what we call a significant award from Rotary International. Only few clubs would get such. It also won presidential citation, among other lofty achievements.

“Right now, the club is planning to build eye hospital in the country with a view to helping as many as possible regain their sight.”
