The District Governor’s official visit to Rotary Club of Ikeja South on Thursday, July 14 started with the unveiling of the sick bay which was established in 2018 by the then District Governor Wale Ogunbadejo at the Rotary Centre in Ikeja, Lagos.

Rotary Club of Ikeja South under the leadership of the Imaginative President of the club, Adebayo Adesakin, as part of its project for the Rotary year, renovated the sick bay which was unveiled by the Imaginative District Governor, Omotunde Lawson, FCAI.
The group then proceeded to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where a solar inverter was donated by the club to the female surgical ward.

The club president while presenting the donation, made reference to the Chief Medical Director’s speech in his office earlier about women in Rotary getting stronger. He revealed that the club is also partnering with that vision which is why the club is donating the solar power system to the female surgical ward to provide 24/7 power supply to the hospital. “We hope this will help to lessen the pain of the patients”, the club president said.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Adetokumbo O. Fabamwo who is also an active Rotarian with Rotary Club of Gbagada noted that the donation came at the right time when the nation is experiencing shortage in power supply due to gas shortage. “We spend N2.5million a day on diesel”, he said.

DG Lawson congratulated the Rotarian CMD for attracting a lot of good things to the hospital since his assumption of office as the CMD. She also congratulated the club for the donation saying, “I know this is not the first and will not be the last”.

Also present with the club was the Immediate Past District Governor, Remi Bello, FCA who is also a member of the club. “You are a Rotarian, not by word of mouth but by action”, he said while addressing the CMD in his office for dedicating his status towards serving humanity.

Other members of the DG’s entourage including the District Secretary, Azuh Arinze who is also a member of the club were also present.
