We kill time. We save time. We rob and get robbed of time, we lose time, and we have all the time in the world.  But no one of us is powerful enough to stop the march of time or slow it down hence we say how time flies.
We are at the beginning of another brand new Rotary year 2021-2022 today.  What do we say when you witness a new year, we say, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
As it is the tradition to some in having a new year resolution at the beginning of a new year, it is the same on this occasion for Rotarians in our District.  At the firstever virtual International Assembly, the Rotary International President-elect, Shekhar Mehta, announced the theme for the year ‘SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES’.
I am asking all to resolve to SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES. In order to achieve our resolution, we shall “do more and grow more”.
What are we to do more and what are we to grow more?
We need to become more involved in service projects. Caring and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own lives.  Let us look beyond ourselves and embrace humanity.
May I encourage you to lead by example during this Change Maker Year.  We should lead by example and inspire Rotary and Rotaract Clubs to participate in projects that have measurable and sustainable impacts.  I am assuring you that the District will be readily available to support the clubs.  I am joining our RI President in asking each club to conduct a Rotary Day of Service in February 2022 with the grand finale holding at the District level.
Seeing is believing, we shall blow our trumpet for the world to see our good work.   At the end of the year as Club Presidents, Officers and indeed members of the Rotary family, we should feel happy that because of our leadership, because of our inspiration to our Rotary Clubs and our Rotaract Clubs, our community has changed for the better through our service during the year.
In the new Rotary year to be able to do more through service, Rotary needs to increase its membership.  Our slogan for the year will be EACH ONE BRING ONE.  It is in increased membership that our Rotary Foundation goals of having more funds to continue to do good in the world like the complete eradication of Poliomyelitis in Nigeria and indeed Africa last year will be assured.
Let me say happy Rotary new year and the year to serve to change lives.
I remain, yours in Rotary Service as we SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES
