The District Governor, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, FCAI on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 flagged off one of her key projects for this ‘Imagine Rotary’ year- “The Hearing for Learning Project”.

The project which is an initiative of the Imaginative DG was born out of her passion for the physically challenged children.
Having been intimated with the need of 330 pupils of Wesley Schools 1 & II for the Hearing Impaired in Surulere, Lagos, the DG decided to adopt them for medical intervention and treatment.

The project which encompasses free screening and provision of hearing aids for the children in Wesley school I and School II, was flagged off in the School on Tuesday with the Presidents and members of 17 Rotary clubs that partnered with the district on this project which is expected to last a period of one week.

Two to three screening stations will be mounted. While station one will be for Otoscopy, syringing of ear(s), Oto-acoustic emission to check the inner ear, station two will be for Tympanometry (middle ear assessment), and station three for Pure Tone Audiometry (full diagnostic hearing test).
At the end of the screening, hearing aids will be given to the pupils that require them. This project was lauded by the representatives of the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Chairman State, Universal Basic Education board (SUBEB) and the Education Secretary, Local Government Education Board, (LGEA).

The project is in partnership with Decibel Hearing Consultants and anchored by the Project Planning Committee Chair, Past President Fowoke Williamson.
