District Governor Jide Akeredolu, on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, visited Rotary Club of Maryland during which the club under the leadership of the president, Adewale Sanni, donated 60 delivery kits to pregnant women and also donated 4 large-sized waste bin to Onigbongbo market.

"This is not all, every year, we will be coming to donate to make sure we continue to remain relevant and if there is anything you need, get in touch with the club; that is what we exist for; to serve humanity. I congratulate the Rotary Club of Maryland, the matron will testify to what they have done today. The interesting thing is that we task ourselves to raise money, help people, and believe those we help will continue praying for us to be able to do more", the DG said.

The delivery kits which contain items that are needed immediately after delivery such as spirit, surgical gloves, cotton wool, baby diaper, coconut oil, among other items, were distributed to pregnant women in Mende, Onigbongbo and Wasimi Health Centres in Maryland, Lagos state.

The DG, while addressing the pregnant women said, "We know you are getting proper care from the Primary Health Centre, I know they are very expensive but the tools that can assist is what we are equally giving. We hope that the little things we have been able to give you will help to make the babies come out fit and also, the mothers remain healthy.

The matron appreciated the club in her speech saying, "Before I came here, i was told by my predecessor that you do this every year and since 2014 that, you have always helped us. Government is really trying but you know man's need is insatiable so they cannot do it alone. I appreciate you so much.

The club also donated waste bins to Onigbongbo market and also organized a seminar for Artisans Cain Village in Maryland on peace and conflict resolution, to help them co-exist peacefully as they consist of people from different parts of the country.

The club had earlier led the District Governor on a courtesy visit to the home of Baale Akinola Ajose of Mende Araromi, Lagos. Two new members were inducted into the club by the DG.
