Rotary International, District 9110 Nigeria, on Monday donated essential medical supplies to Ogun State Government to support the fight against Coronavirus in the state.

“Since Coronavirus started, Rotary has keyed into the challenges to do a lot of things with funds that we have been able to raise from all over the world”, DG Akeredolu

The medical supplies include Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help provide safety for health officials at the frontline, while reducing the spread of the virus.

The District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu, accompanied by some other district leaders, presented the items which includes N95 face masks, surgical face masks, pulse oximiters, infrared thermometers, latex examination gloves, theatre goggles, surgical gloves, hand sanitizers, and hand sanitizers (refill) to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker.

Speaking during the donation, DG Akeredolu stated that the donation will help to complement the effort of the state government in the fight against Coronavirus. “Since Coronavirus started, Rotary has keyed into the challenges to do a lot of things with funds that we have been able to raise from all over the world”, he said.

“We provide critical medical supplies and in our own little way, support what the government is doing. The whole gamut of what the front line staff would need is what we have provided and it will do a lot to support the state government.

Dr. Tomi who received the kits from the Rotarians thanked the Rotary club for its past and present support to the state. “In this journey of our fight against Coronavirus, it is impossible for the government to do it alone so we are happy you have come to support us with this donation”, she stated.

In his closing remarks, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal who is also a Rotarian called on the medical staff present to become members of the club which has its doors widely open to accommodate new members; that way, more resources will be available and more lives will be touched.
