No fewer than 120 students of higher institutions in Lagos and Ogun states which are under the umbrella of Rotary International, District 9110, have been given the District Education and Welfare Endowment Fund scholarships (DEWEF).
 
 
 
The scholarships were presented to the beneficiaries by the Chairman, DEWEF Board of Trustees, Past District Governor Olawale Cole alongside the District Governor, Omotunde Lawson, FCAI on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
 
DEWEF is an initiative of the Rotary district, a platform that raises funds from Rotarians and disbursed to brilliant but indigent students of higher education through scholarships on an annual basis. Every year, new beneficiaries are selected to join the existing beneficiaries and they all are presented with N100, 000 cheques to support their tuition fees and other school needs as may apply and the scholarship covers for the duration the students will be in school until graduation so long as they maintain their high grades.
 
 
 
The rigorous screening process of selecting new beneficiaries involve oral interviews as well as qualification exam by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC). This Rotary year. A total of 120 students were presented with the scholarships with 27 of them being newly selected beneficiaries.
