About 20 new students will also be admitted into the 2019/2020 session of the programme as stated by the club.

This was one of the laudable projects that were executed by the club during the District Governor’s visit to the club on Monday, August 19, 2019.

The club also donated 5 mattresses, 2, weighing scales, 100 insecticide treated nets, and 2 sac-load of detergents to the newly built Bola Tinubu Primary Health Centre in Alimosho. The insecticide treated nets and the detergents were distributed to nursing mothers and pregnant women at the centre.

The club also donated food items and a water tank to Little Saints Orphanage (Boys Hostel), Shasha. The items were received by the Administrator of the home, Mrs Tina Odiong.

“If we join hands together, we will be able to move this community to another level", DG Akeredolu tells Officials of Alimosho Local Government Area.

The visit of District Governor Akeredolu to the club started with a courtesy call on the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA), Honourable Sulaimon Jelili who was represented by the Vice Chairman of the LGA and Supervisor for Works, Honourable Francis Adebisi. Also present was the Council Manager, Engineer Dele Abayo and stakeholders from the various wards in the LGA.

Addressing the Rotarians on behalf of the Chairman, Honourable Adebisi stated, “The reason why we are here is because you have contributed a lot to this local government. You have contributed a lot of money and other things I can’t mention now. I remember before the 2017 election, the club donated an incubator to the health centre and that is a state project. Today, I say thank you.”

DG Akeredolu while responding to the Vice Chairman said, “We are quite lucky to see all the political leaders in this community and it gives us great joy that we can interact with you. I am quite pleased that the club has done quite a lot of projects in this community and the club president has told me that they carry out needs assessment to know what the community needs before executing these projects.

“We see a lot of people in need on a daily basis and that is where Rotary comes in to support the government in providing for our communities. I implore the community leaders to join hands with us so we can do more for the community. If you see the list of things the club has done for this community over the years, I would say Rotary Club of Akowonjo has done fantabulously well”, the DG further said.

“If we join hands together, we will be able to move this community to another level. We are using this avenue to ask you to join us and also encourage members of your families to join. We have various levels in Rotary. We have the junior level known as Rotaract, we have active members like us and we also have honorary members”, the DG concluded.

Responding to DG Akeredolu’s call, the Vice Chairman and stakeholders stated their interest to be part of the club through one of their own, the Supervisor for Health, Honourable Abolade Rasheed who is willing to be a member of the club.
