Rotary Club of Ajuwon in District 9110 has contributed its part towards the sustainability of the environment through its tree planting exercise carried out during the visit of the District Governor, Rotarian Dr. Wale Ogunbadejo.
DG Ogunbadejo who visited Rotary Club of Ajuwon on Saturday, December 9, 2017 was accompanied on the visit by the District Secretary, Rotarian Segun Adewakun and several other district leaders. The DG joined the club in the exercise, which was carried out within the premises of Progress College.
The club president, Rotarian Kofoworola Oladeinde and some other leaders and members of the club were on ground to receive the Governor and members of his entourage.
Mr. Shina Apara, the Chief Security Officer of the school who represented the School Principal, was also present during the exercise.
While addressing the management of the school, the DG said that, “we are trying to pay attention to the earth itself that sustains us. These trees are the things that ensure we are alive because without them, we will all be dead. They give us oxygen. Please, ensure that they survive”.
Mr Apara assured the DG that “the step you have taken is a very good one because this exercise will help to stop erosion.” He assured that the trees will be properly nurtured so that when next the club members visit the school, they will notice a great improvement.
The DG, during the club assembly, commended the club for presenting the current Rotary International’s constitution.
He however advised the club to always ensure sustainability of projects executed by creating reliable measures on how the projects will be sustained, even before the execution of the project, in order to avoid going back to maintain old projects with funds that should be used to execute new projects.
The Governor also shared fellowship with members of the club during which he inducted two new members into the Rotary Club of Ajuwon family.
